The news of backpacker Grace Millane in New Zealand broke my heart. I got really upset about it and how her family have lost their daughter, how she won’t be able to return home to them and share all her stories of her travels. 5 Things Solo Travel Taught Me

If you’d have said to me a few years ago that I’d take a flight on my own, live in a city by myself and go on travel tours all alone, I would have laughed in your face and gone back to the comfort of a couples holiday with my then boyfriend (cringe). Fast forward to 2017 and I have 10 solo flights under my belt, 2 of those long haul, as well as a host of touring trips where I knew nobody at the start – scary, daunting but amazing all at once! Solo travel was one of my favourite experiences of my life so far and as cliché as it sounds, I definitely grew as a person in those 6 months completely by myself.
