Tomorrow is my Grandma’s 89th birthday. As I’m settling down to watch Bake Off with Mum (bring on bread week!) I remembered how I would drive the 5 minutes to my Grandma’s house every Tuesday to watch it with her, a special time I’ll never forget. Now, she is in a lovely care home about 15 minutes from us, as her need for round the clock care became more prominent after her dementia diagnosis. It can be hard to grasp when someone doesn’t remember things, is confused easily and may not even know who you are, which is why I wanted to understand dementia more.
Another city break done with my two girls Lucy and Karolina and this one didn’t disappoint. There’s nothing like a change of scenery to lighten my mood and feed my need for travel and adventure. Continue reading
This week I have found myself spouting that old chestnut ‘life is too short’ on repeat to myself and to my best friends. Those 4 little words couldn’t be more true and it’s great to remind ourselves during periods of negativity, drama or stress that there really is so much more to life than silly spats and unnecessary negativity. Over a month has passed since my last post, and with good reason. Sometimes, there is a lot going on in your life and you simply have to prioritise things and relieve the pressure you’re putting on yourself to get everything done and be super successful. So lately, I have prioritised my study sessions, heading out for walks with my tunes in and doing things that have helped me stay calm and not lose the plot (reading a good book and watching Love Island to name a couple – no judgements here!). This is a question I ask myself a hell of a lot. Do I try and excel in my career, climb that ladder and earn enough to lead as comfortable life as I can? Or pack my bags, book that ticket so I can explore the world some more before I feel the tick tock of my body telling me to settle down and act on my maternal instincts? I bet it’s a question we’ve all asked ourselves plenty of times. Do I really need my job? Should I just quit and leave this all behind? What is it that I actually want from my twenties/thirties/and so on?
If you’ve read any of my past travel posts by now, you’ll know I LOVE a girly holiday. When we knew our lovely Emma was returning for a few weeks from New Zealand, we arranged a cheapy weekend away in sunny Somerset. We chose a caravan holiday because a) they’re so fun! and b) I get a discount through work for our great Haven sites all around the country. Continue reading
Another month has gone by and we’re now in June! Not sure how that happened, but my month started in the best way with a spontaneous trip to Brighton for the weekend with Danny who I met on the Kiwi Bus in New Zealand way back at the end of 2016! Over 19 months later, we reunited and made the trip down to the coast and had such a fun weekend exploring what this vibrant place had to offer Continue reading
